So today, the people behind Skinny Cow ice cream decided to give the staff some ice cream. i dont know why, but why would anyone question it? the freezer was full with boxes of ice cream! it was probably the best freebie i've ever gotten. i think it just about makes interning 25 hours a week worth it. i mean, if i had ice cream everyday i'd be happy. id look forward to working for no money, but just free coffee and ice cream. isnt that a genius way of keeping an office full of women satisfied? (skinny cow is low fat, too-- not like i care, but i guess other people do. pffffttt.)
on the more serious side, i need to train myself to sleep earlier. im exhausted!

so i sit here with chinese takeout and a bottle of soda in front of me. and i think i have a newfound appreciation for my combination of a fast metabolism and lucky genetics. without them, i think id be noticeably larger given how i eat.
the reason im writing about this is because with a new year comes the new year's resolutions. and quite possibly the most popular resolution is to lose weight. and of course, this is reflected in the media with magazine articles and talk shows on weightloss plans. i was watching oprah and her dietician? had a list of things that one could do to lose weight. first on the list is to stop drinking soda, to which i said "DUH!?"
america has a problem with obesity because we have distorted views on what a meal consists of. a burger with a side of fries and a cup of soda is NOT a meal. taco bell and wendys are NOT places to go to for dinner. and soda should NOT be the drink to accompany a meal. these choices are nothing but trash (granted, maybe tasty trash) and should be treated as rare indulgences, not regular staples. i may be eating my lo mein with my coke, but this is not my nightly dinner (i swear, its not!). i may enjoy having a donut, doritos, insertanyotherjunkfooditemhere, but i dont do it daily. because i may have a fast metabolism and blessed genes, but my body still holds fat. my three years of dorming in college have proven that the metabolism and genes can only help me to a certain extent, and holy cow, i am capable of having flab.
losing weight is not about the newest diet plan or pill. its about changing your lifestyle. if youre ridiculously overweight, that means youre doing something wrong. its time to admit it and do something about it. Dr. Atkins or Hoodia cannot help you there. you have to help yourself. and that means having a healthier lifestyle. that means not having soda everyday. and maybe packing your own lunch and snacks instead of going to mcdonalds. it saves you so much money too!

i suck as a blogger. but if you were still using dial-up, you wouldn't want to go online either! i'll be back with stjohn's high speed internet in a week and a half, though, so maybe i wont suck so much then.
for now, i'm bumming around as usual. ive yet to return the shoes i hastily bought because my feet were in pain from standing in stilettos all afternoon at work ($50 missing from my debit and me, missing a $50 shopping trip). and... well, ive yet to do anything else, really. yay for vacation!
im already looking forward to summer vacation, and thinking about what i can possibly do in those 3 months off. do i intern in nyc, travel the world, or intern somewhere else? (not that i've been accepted, or hell, even applied to anything, but i just like knowing what im doing. im a bit of a control freak in that sense.) i really miss spain, and i really want to go somewhere, but i also need to intern and get more experience. plus, traveling without an income is a little... not nice. time will tell i guess.
in the meantime, with the $50 back (given that i return those damn shoes soon), i am planning to buy some galoshes. some people will give me shit for that, but i refuse to spend another day walking around with soggy feet! any suggestions for where to find gorgeous (and affordable) galoshes?
i need to go shopping!

ho ho ho!
i'm done with school, almost done at my internship(which is half good half sad), done with christmas shopping, aaand im about to go to florida! im a happy camper really. but when christmas is over and the internship is over, i feel like my month off is basically done. i have to go to jury duty (dammit), go see some doctors because its the only time i can, and then i start with my new internship on the second week of january. after that... school starts. blah. but then again, i would really like to get it all over with. now that i've pulled up my gpa, can i graduate now? why cant i have a job already? hire me please!
in other news.. i was writing something about ANTM and i found out that theres gonna be a Philippines' Next Top Model, with Ruffa Guttierrez-whatever her husbands name is. shes not really a model (does the philippines even have runway models? arent we like, too short?) but when i was little, i looked up to her. literally. she was tall. and pretty. i wanted to be like her. but alas, i was not meant to have such a physique. i do want to watch the show though. which makes me want to go back there too. ah, so many things i want to do!
hasta luego-go,
mango
i rhymed.
